Training: Effective organisation of the Finance Committee

In companies with more than 100 employees, the establishment of an Finance Committee is required by law. Its task is to consult on  economic matters with the employer and inform the Works Council. In order for the Finance Committee to fulfil this role effectively, a sound knowledge of business management, corporate planning and key financial figures is essential. Our seminar provides a practical introduction to the basics of Finance Committee work and gives participants the tools they need to competently evaluate and strategically utilise economic information.

Rights and duties of the Finance Committee

According to Sec.s 106 – 110 WCA, the Finance Committee has extensive rights to information and consultation. Our seminar teaches how these rights can be used effectively to recognise a company’s economic developments at an early stage and assess the potential impact on the workforce. Topics include

  • Establishment and tasks of the Finance Committee
  • Information procurement and processing
  • Cooperation with the Works Council and management
  • Rights of the Finance Committee in the event of alterations

Seminar content: Business management knowledge for Finance Committees

The seminar provides practical knowledge on the most important business management topics that are relevant to the work of the Finance Committee. These include

  • Analysis of annual financial statements: balance sheet, income statement, management report
  • Short-term income statement and controlling
  • Key figure systems for company valuation
  • Investment and financial planning
  • Personnel planning and its economic effects

Using practical examples and case studies, participants learn how to interpret key economic figures and how to use their findings for co-determination in the company.

Enforcement of information and counselling rights

The management does not always provide the Finance Committee with the necessary information. In such cases, it is important to know and enforce your own rights. The seminar will cover the following topics:

  • Dealing with attempts at obstruction
  • Company agreements on economic co-determination
  • Legal options for enforcing information rights

Training formats

The seminar is aimed at members of the Finance Committee and Works Councils who wish to deepen their business management knowledge and utilise their co-determination rights in a targeted manner. Depending on requirements, we offer introductory seminars as well as in-depth training on specific topics. The training courses are designed as one- to five-day events, with three-day seminars being particularly popular.

Use our expert knowledge to optimise your Finance Committee work in a targeted manner and actively help shape economic decisions.
